"Consulting has brought me challenging and fulfilling work while helping me grow my skillset and work more flexibly."

I’d built up a successful career as a litigation and regulatory lawyer, working in private practice within leading international law firms in Hong Kong. I loved my work but as I reached the ten-year mark, something shifted. I realised I needed a fresh challenge – one that would involve stepping out of my comfort zone to work in different industries, companies and cultures, while still progressing my legal career.

Peerpoint has proved the perfect match. I’ve had a good mix of high-calibre assignments so far – one with a global financial institution and another with a major blockchain company, which I found especially stimulating.

One concern I had about legal consulting was whether I’d be sidelined on projects as a part-time staff member. I had a senior role in private practice, and I was hoping I would continue to progress professionally.

My qualms were unfounded. My placements have seen me recognised as a senior consultant able to bring my experience, both specialised and holistic, to bear on whatever project is underway. It’s also been great to discover that my skills, experience and knowledge can be of assistance to such very different types of clients, even in roles that take me outside my core practice area.

The other huge benefit consulting has brought me is flexibility. Now, I get to choose the work that suits me in a pattern that fits my needs and career aspiration. I can take some time to pursue further studies in laws of other jurisdictions, for example. I’ve also just returned from a month-long trip to Singapore, catching up with extended family for the first time in 2.5 years.

The support I’ve received from the Peerpoint team has been outstanding. They’ve taken great care to ensure each placement is the right fit for me. I’ve learned so much already, and I’m looking forward to continuing to develop my legal skillsets and network on future placements.
