The challenge
Our client, a European family-owned business, was materially expanding its Australian operations. Having secured significant investment funding, the business needed to strengthen its governance framework and meet Australian regulatory requirements. The client and its investors wanted to appoint a locally based non-executive director who could bring independent governance expertise, put the right frameworks and controls in place, and help guide the business through a period of significant growth and change.
What we did
We worked closely with the client to understand and articulate its governance needs, define the ideal candidate profile, and develop an appropriate remuneration package. The outcome
Within a short timeframe, the client appointed an outstanding lawyer and governance specialist as its new non-executive director and to provide associated governance consulting services. The successful candidate brought extensive experience working with privately owned family businesses, including organisations from the client's home jurisdiction, giving the Board added confidence in the appointment. The appointment strengthened the Board's governance capability, supported the client's compliance requirements, and provided the leadership needed to underpin the next phase of its growth in Australia – all delivered within a compressed timeframe and at a highly competitive cost.
