Rapidly scaling a bank's corporate legal capacity
Growing one successful placement into a fully embedded corporate team.
The challenge
The client sought junior corporate support for its group M&A and corporate legal function. We placed a consultant, a former A&O Shearman associate, on a 12-month assignment. She proved an excellent fit for the team's workload and culture. Impressed by the calibre, the hiring manager asked us to source a second corporate consultant to strengthen the team, transitioning from an existing contractor arrangement with minimal disruption.
What we did
We moved quickly to curate a focused shortlist of consultants with strong corporate credentials and relevant in-house experience. Given the performance issues with the outgoing contractor, we recommended the final interview be held in person to enable a fuller assessment of technical capability, judgement, and team fit.
The outcome
Within five months, the function progressed from having no Peerpoint consultants to two firmly embedded in the team, complemented by an A&O Shearman secondee already in situ. With three professionals from the broader A&O Shearman network working in tandem, the client gained immediate continuity, deeper bench strength, and higher-quality output. The seamless transition stabilised delivery on live matters and strengthened the client's confidence in Peerpoint as a responsive, cost-disciplined solution for specialist corporate resourcing.
